Justice" />Happy New Year to the entire Research, Development and Engineering Command family. As we embark on this journey called "2010," I want to pass along some observations and guidance.
Last month, it was my great privilege to assume command of this diverse, talented and forward-thinking organization. I am proud of what you do, and I encourage you to set lofty goals for 2010.
I want you to understand that business as usual just went out the window.
Your mindset must be: Fast. Furious. Now.
We provide America's Warfighters with strength through technology. There is no other organization in the Army that does what we do, so we must all be first-string players. We must be on the forefront of our expertise striving to be world class. Our Soldiers deserve no less. I'm sure you'll agree.
So, how do we move forward' Consider the new year as a fresh start. Step back and give yourself a new perspective on our goals, missions and strategies.
I want the entire RDECOM team to develop individual objectives for 2010 and engage in a methodical process to meet them. You can call it your "New Year's Resolution" if you want.
Consider how your individual objectives contribute to the big picture. Your contribution is critical. We are dedicated to providing engineering, science and technology solutions to our Soldiers in the field. Every one of you on the RDECOM team supports that goal or you wouldn't be here.
Our Soldiers continue to make incredible sacrifices on faraway battlefields. They deserve your personal best effort.
This is what we will accomplish in 2010:
Aca,!AcRaise your expectations
Aca,!AcProvide a value-added service
Aca,!AcDemand quality
Leaders, be mentors and lead by example. Our workforce is our most valuable asset. We will be successful only when we take care of our people.
I would also like to remind you of our commitment to the Army Family Covenant. We are dedicated to raising the quality of life for all the members of the Army team. This year, take time to connect with your Family. We recognize the strength of our Soldiers comes from the strength of our Families.
Again, Happy New Year. Now, it's time to move out!
