Persons attending a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery should be aware of changes in accessibility through the gate shared with Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.

If you are attending a chapel service prior to a funeral, you will no longer be able to drive to Fort Myer's Old Post or Memorial Chapel from the cemetery unless the vehicle you are riding in bears Department of Defense (DoD) decals. Everyone entering JBM-HH must also have a government-issued photo ID; drivers must have a valid driver's license, up-to-date vehicle registration and proof of insurance.

An exception exists for vehicles already on JHM-HH traveling in a funeral procession into the cemetery. Passes can be secured that will allow a return trip.

To get the pass for vehicles in the funeral procession, notify the gate guard of your intent to return to JBM-HH. The guard will then issue color-coded passes which need to be returned at the end of the day. It's recommended you provide the guard a list of personnel attending the funeral to expedite the gate transition.

If those in your party do not have the correct passes, they must leave the cemetery after the interment and enter JBM-HH through through Fort Myer's Hatfield (on Washington Boulevard at South 2nd Street) gate, the Wright Gate (on Marshall Drive at Meade Street just off Route 110) or Henderson Hall Gate (Southgate RD.).
