PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. - Some 150 local families received help in the form of food vouchers for the holiday season this year.
Military members from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard were eligible for the voucher program that saw at least $50 given to each family.
The vouchers were provided by the Presidio of Monterey and Ord Military Community Chapel services.
"It\'s a real morale booster," said Spc. Maxine Bertzfield, of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, POM Garrison. "It makes you feel good that someone was thinking of you, especially during this part of the year."
For Bertzfield, who has organized the program for the last three years, the project has held a special meaning for her.
"It's my baby, the one special project that I know I can help my (fellow lower enlisted)," she said.
