Monterey Police recommend 'No Haste for the Holidays'

By Lt. Leslie Fry SonnAfA, Monterey Police DepartmentNovember 25, 2009

As part of the continuing effort by the Monterey Police Department to create and maintain a safe community, the third campaign of the Traffic Safety and Enforcement Strategy began Nov. 1.

The No Haste for the Holidays campaign will have Monterey officers focusing on drivers who are speeding and violating other vehicle code sections in the rush to get from one place to another.

Drivers create unsafe conditions when, in their haste to get somewhere, they speed, make unsafe lane changes, follow other vehicles too closely, fail to yield to others when making left turns or fail to yield when entering or crossing a highway.

With daylight savings time upon us, Monterey Police request drivers slow down, drive in a safe manner and allow plenty of time for travel so that they are not making hasty decisions when they drive.

Questions on the Traffic Safety and Enforcement Safety Strategy or the No Haste for the Holidays campaign can be directed to Lt. Leslie F. SonnAfA, (831) 646-3971 or sonne@ci.monterey.ca.us.
