FORT EUSTIS, Va. - Dozens of Fort Eustis Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians and family members gathered at the Transportation Corps Regimental Memorial Chapel Monday for a remembrance and prayer service to honor the victims of the Nov. 5 shootings at Fort Hood, Texas.

The service included prayers for the fallen, the wounded, and the Fort Hood and Army family followed by remarks by Fort Eustis Commander Brig. Gen. Brian R. Layer.

In his brief statement, Layer spoke of the bond of the Army family, stating that an attack on one is an attack on all.

"In our Army, all roads lead to Fort Hood," he said.

As a hush fell over the chapel, Layer read the names of Fort Hood's fallen.

"They have mustered in the halls of the Lord where they will only know peace," Layer finished.

Attendees then stood silently as Chaplains Assistant Pvt. Sarah Wiggins lighted 13 white taper candles in remembrance of those killed in the mass shooting.

In closing, Regimental Chaplain Col. Richard Garrison also spoke of the Army family.

"No matter where we are in the world, we're all a family," said Garrison.
