Traffic delays expected on Sumter Ave.

By Fort Jackson PAONovember 6, 2009

Expect traffic delays on Sumter Ave. as construction crews will begin curb replacement for the resurfacing project on Saturday Nov. 7.

Crews will start on Sumter Street, closest to the gate on Forest Drive. They will build up the areas in front of driveways to allow access for vehicles to enter in and out of various parking areas without any issues.

There will be lane closures as crews work on the project. Flagmen will monitor traffic flow, allowing people access to Sumter Avenue and surrounding buildings. Lane closures are expected to be minimal.

Due to the heavy increase of traffic on Thursdays and Fridays, construction crews will try to maintain a Saturday to Wednesday work schedule, minimizing any inconveniences.

The estimated completion date for this project is Nov. 30.
