Army Maj. Gen. Richard P. Formica has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, SMDC/ARSTRAT.
Formica is currently serving as the commander, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, U.S. Central Command, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.
