ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. - Anniston Defense Munitions Center, Anniston Army Depot and Anniston Chemical Disposal Facility recently participated in the 25th Annual Calhoun County B2B Business Expo. The theme for the 2009 expo, held Oct. 20 at the Anniston City Meeting Center, was "A Taste of Calhoun County."
"The B2B is a great opportunity for ANAD to network with businesses in the area and to support the community. More than 90 local businesses supported the event, representing the gamut of service providers in Calhoun County," said Sonja Freeman, business management specialist for the depot.
For ADMC, this year was particularly special, as the organization's booth brought home the third place prize in the Best Exhibit category.
ADMC has participated in the Business Expo for the past three years and the focus each year has been community outreach. "I feel our booth was a tremendous success," said Jerry Wilson, one of the many ADMC employees involved in the planning and execution of the display. "Our main goal was community relations and letting people know what we do here at ADMC."
The ADMC booth took on an "Army Theme" according to ADMC Commander Lt. Col. Duncan MacMullen. The displays consisted of missile containers and missile cutaways. The personnel who worked the ADMC booth also distributed marketing materials such as pamphlets and brochures and answered questions from expo patrons ranging from the type of work done at ADMC to questions about employment opportunities within the organization.
"The business expo is a prime venue for our Center to show our community and local businesses what we do. Although we are a DoD activity, we do rely on local business relationships to complete our mission. The expo helps us identify local capabilities of potential value to us and ultimately to our customer, the warfighter," said MacMullen.
