Five former TACOM teammates to join command Hall of Fame

DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. – Five former teammates whose careers shaped Army readiness will cement their legacies next month as inductees into the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Hall of Fame.

David W. Horton, Agnes E. Holley-Smith, Michele M. Moore, James P. Tidwell and David L. Van Agtmael will be honored during an Oct. 28 ceremony at the Detroit Arsenal.

“The TACOM Hall of Fame Class of 2026 represents the best of who we are,” said Brig. Gen. Beth A. Behn, TACOM commanding general. “The honorees’ outstanding achievements, leadership and dedication to our mission left an indelible mark not only on this command, but across the Army.”

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the Building 200 auditorium. Afterward, the celebration will continue with a reception and plaque unveiling in the Hall of Fame room in Building 230.

Over decades of service, each inductee pushed the boundaries of excellence to advance TACOM’s mission and enhance Army readiness.

Horton served in several key leadership roles before retiring as acting executive director of the Integrated Logistics Support Center. Holley-Smith led critical organizational transformations, her career culminating as director of Operations and Security Assistance for the ILSC.

As the division chief for Enterprise Business Systems-Convergence and ILSC audit liaison, Moore was the command liaison for efforts to consolidate defense business systems across the Army. Tidwell dedicated more than four decades of service to Red River Army Depot, rising from an intern to deputy commander. Van Agtmael, a retired chief warrant officer 3, served as a senior command representative.

The TACOM Hall of Fame program launched in 2024. It honors former teammates for their lasting contributions while also preserving the command’s rich history.

To be considered for induction, a person must be a former DA Civilian or Soldier who demonstrated the outstanding performance of duties that significantly enhanced the accomplishment of the TACOM mission, or performed an act of valor, gallantry or heroism involving personal hazard or danger and the voluntary risk of life.

The Class of 2026 will be the third class to join the Hall of Fame.

“Our honorees have challenged us to raise the bar, think big and lead with heart,” Behn said. “Their Hall of Fame induction is a permanent expression of our shared gratitude for their service.”
