FORT KNOX, Ky. — The U.S. Army 3rd Recruiting Brigade marked a transition of leadership during a change of command ceremony Aug. 14, 2026, at the Patton Museum of Leadership.
The traditional passing of the brigade colors symbolized the transfer of authority and responsibility from Col. Whitney O. Jensen to Col. Lee D. Monzon.
Under the leadership of Jensen, the 3rd Recruiting Brigade enlisted 22,373 people into the active-duty U.S. Army, alongside another 4,931 recruits into the Army Reserve.
Following her command, Jensen will transition to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to assume a position at the U.S. Army War College.
Monzon joins the 3rd Recruiting Brigade after serving as the provost marshal of V Corps, also based at Fort Knox. He used his first address as the new brigade commander to express thanks to Jensen for a smooth transition and said he is looking forward to being part of the brigade team.
The 3rd Recruiting Brigade, headquartered at Fort Knox, is responsible for Army recruiting operations across a multi-state region in the Midwest.
