Roadworks on Grunwaldzka Street in Poznan to Begin Thursday, August 13

Road resurfacing works on Grunwaldzka Street in Poznań will begin on Thursday, August 13. The works will cover the section between the intersection with Bukowska Street and the junction of Matejki and Szylinga streets. Part of Bukowska Street will also be resurfaced.

According to the Municipal Roads Authority (ZDM) in Poznań, the works will involve removing the damaged road surface and laying a new one. To reduce disruption to traffic, the project has been divided into three stages.

Stage One: Northern carriageway of Grunwaldzka Street

During the first stage, work will be carried out on the northern carriageway of Grunwaldzka Street, between Bukowska Street and the intersection with Matejki and Szylinga streets.

Drivers will still be able to enter Bukowska Street and reach Zeylanda Street. However, it will not be possible to turn from Grunwaldzka Street into Szylinga Street while the works are underway.

A detour will be signposted via Śniadeckich, Konopnickiej and Matejki streets.

Stage Two: Bukowska Street and the Matejki/Szylinga junction

The second stage will cover a section of the northern carriageway of Bukowska Street, between Jana Zborowskiego Street and Grunwaldzka Street.

Works will also be carried out on the straight-ahead lane running alongside the tram stop before the Matejki/Szylinga intersection.

Stage Three: Southern section of Grunwaldzka Street

The final stage will involve the southern section of Grunwaldzka Street, between Bukowska Street and Stolarska Street.

During this phase, access to and from Święcickiego Street will remain possible. However, access from Śniadeckich and Stolarska streets will be closed.

Drivers heading towards Grunwaldzka Street will be directed via Konopnickiej and Matejki streets. Those travelling towards Śniadeckich Street will be able to use either Konopnickiej and Matejki streets or Roosevelta and Głogowska streets.

Drivers are advised to follow the temporary traffic signs and allow additional time for their journeys while the resurfacing works are in progress.

The World Comes to Poznań: Folk, Music and Color Take Over the City

Poznań is getting a little more colorful this week as dancers, musicians and folk artists from around the world take to the streets as part of the 26th World Folklore Festival INTEGRACJE 2026.

This year’s festival, running until 16 August, brings together performers from Mexico, Brazil and Poland, offering Poznań residents a chance to experience music, dance and traditions from different parts of the world — right in the heart of the city.

The festival’s theme this year is “Folklore Without a Filter”, and there is plenty to see beyond the stage.

A colorful parade through the city

On Monday, 10 August, Poznań became one of the festival’s main stages as performers marched through the city centre.

The parade started at 5:00 pm near the statue of Stary Marych on Półwiejska Street, before bringing the energy of the participating groups into the streets of Poznań.

Among this year’s performers are artists from Mexico and Brazil, as well as two Polish ensembles: Regional Song and Dance Ensemble “Ondraszek” from Szczyrk and the festival hosts, Poznań Folk Dance Ensemble of the Poznań University of Physical Education (AWF).

With traditional costumes, live music and energetic choreography, the parade offered a colorful reminder that folklore is not simply something found in museums or history books — it is a living part of culture that can still bring people together.

More than just dancing

INTEGRACJE is designed as an opportunity not only to watch performances, but also to get involved.

On Tuesday, 11 August, Poznań residents can head to Klub na Fali at Wilda Beach for the “Pierścieniówka” Traditional Sports Tournament, starting at 5:00 pm.

The festival also includes workshops, family activities and performances in Poznań and several towns across Wielkopolska, including Kostrzyn, Grodzisk Wielkopolski, Nowy Tomyśl, Kościan, Oborniki and Mirosławiec.

The program began in Kostrzyn with a parade, workshops and family concerts, before travelling across the region.

A festival for the whole family

One of the strengths of INTEGRACJE is its accessibility. The program combines professional performances with activities aimed at children and families, making it easy to simply turn up, watch, listen and take part.

There are traditional craft workshops, children's folk workshops, parades and open-air concerts — all offering a chance to discover traditions from different cultures in a relaxed, public setting.

And perhaps the best part for Poznań residents: all festival events are free of charge.

The final concert will take place on Sunday, 16 August, at 6:00 pm in Park Wilsona, bringing together the festival participants for a final celebration of international folklore.

Before that, Saturday, 15 August, will also bring festival activity to the center of Poznań. At 10:30 am, a Mass will be held at the Church of All Saints on Mostowa Street, followed at 11:00 am by a parade and performance on Stary Rynek.

So if you are in Poznań this week, keep an eye — and an ear — out. You may find yourself walking through the city alongside dancers from Mexico, hearing Brazilian rhythms or discovering Polish traditions you have never seen performed quite this way before.

For a few days, Poznań becomes a meeting point for cultures from different corners of the world. And you don't need a ticket to be part of it.

Major Traffic Changes on Poznań Streets from Monday, August 10

Drivers in Poznań should prepare for significant changes to traffic organization from Monday, August 10. The changes are connected mainly with the next stage of construction of the tram route along Ratajczaka Street, as well as road maintenance works elsewhere in the city.

Changes around the Wierzbięcice interchange

From August 10, traffic arrangements in the city center will change due to ongoing construction works at the intersection of Niezłomnych Street and Królowej Jadwigi Street.

The connection along Królowej Jadwigi Street behind the Dom Żołnierza building will be closed to traffic. Vehicles travelling from Niepodległości Avenue towards the Rataje district will have to turn right onto Niezłomnych Street and then left onto the northern carriageway of Królowej Jadwigi Street, where a new road surface has already been installed.

Near the Novotel hotel, drivers will be able to cross onto the southern carriageway of Królowej Jadwigi Street, which leads towards Rondo Rataje. Traffic through the Wierzbięcice interchange will continue to use the southern carriageway in both directions.

Drivers are advised to follow the temporary road signs and exercise particular caution in the area.

Access to Ratajczaka Street properties restricted

Changes will also affect access to properties on Ratajczaka Street between Św. Marcin Street and the intersection with Ogrodowa Street.

From August 10, access to these properties will only be possible from Taczaka Street. A section of Ratajczaka Street between Św. Marcin Street and property number 21 will be completely closed.

Roadworks on the Ostrowska Street viaduct

Another major source of traffic disruption will be the viaduct on Ostrowska Street over the A2 motorway. Resurfacing works will begin there on August 10.

The project will be carried out in two stages. Initially, work will focus on the eastern section of the viaduct, followed by the western section. The contractor will remove the damaged road surface on the viaduct, as well as on the entrances and exits, before installing a reinforcing mesh and a new wearing course.

During the works, traffic will operate in an alternating one-way system, controlled manually or by temporary traffic lights.

The works are scheduled to be completed by the end of August, with the project costing more than PLN 330,000.

Further changes in the Ogrody area

Drivers should also expect disruptions in the Ogrody area, where a new traffic organization is being introduced as planned.

Roadworks are scheduled to begin on Wiosenna Street next week. Drivers will be required to move their parked vehicles in connection with the works.

With several projects taking place simultaneously, drivers should allow extra travel time and pay close attention to temporary signs and changes to traffic arrangements.

Poznań edition of the 33rd Clean Up the World campaign

As has become tradition, Poznań residents will be able to join their friends, neighbors, and acquaintances in cleaning up their neighborhoods. In the capital of Greater Poland, the cleanup drive is scheduled for September 7th to 20th. Registration opened on Monday, August 10th, and will last for almost a month and a half.

"SOS for water – let it be free of trash!" is the slogan of this year's cleanup campaign, coordinated since its inception by the Nasza Ziemia Foundation. This means that this year, participants will pay special attention to waste dumped into rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams, which often ends up in seas and oceans, further contributing to the global pollution of the planet.

Participating in the Poznań edition of the Clean Up the World campaign is a great opportunity to connect. Together with neighbors, family, friends, or your work crew, you can beautify your neighborhood while also getting to know each other better.

The process for participating is simple. Simply gather a group and schedule a time and place for the cleanup. The registration form is available online . The deadline for registration is September 15th.

The Poznań City Hall's Municipal Services Department will provide participants with bags and gloves, essential cleaning supplies. These can be picked up at the WGK office at ul. 28 Czerwca 1956, No. 404.

After cleaning the selected area, please send a photo of the collected waste to WGK – it will be made available on the action map . The photos will be useful when planning waste collection.
