Army G-4 Celebrates Readiness Leaders at the 2026 Logistics Excellence Awards

On May 6, 2026, the Army G-4, LTG Michelle Donahue hosted the 2026 Logistics Excellence Awards, recognizing the tactical and strategic standard-bearers of global readiness. The ceremony presented the prestigious Lieutenant General Arthur J. Gregg Sustainment Leadership Award alongside the annual Logistics Excellence Awards. Named in honor of Lieutenant General Arthur J. Gregg, a trailblazer in Army logistics, the sustainment leadership award honors innovation, resource management, and operational readiness. The award categories include Military, Civilian, and Legacy, highlighting the diverse, interconnected contributions of sustainment professionals across the Army.

For 2026, the Lieutenant General Arthur J. Gregg Sustainment Leadership Award recognized three outstanding recipients. In the Military category, Colonel Michael P. Solovey, G-4 for Army Intelligence and Security Command, was honored for leading sustainment for over 18,000 personnel, implementing the INSCOM G-4-X program, saving $52 million annually via campus consolidation, and securing $1.3 billion in critical assets. Dr. Steven K. Dewey, Deputy G-4 for U.S. Army Central Command, received the Civilian category award for managing logistics for 11,000 forward-deployed Soldiers and generating $648 million in cost avoidance. In the Legacy category, Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Rodger W. Mansker was celebrated for his 34-year career, including serving as the 16th CSM for U.S. Army Materiel Command, advising on the Afghanistan drawdown, and guiding the successful fielding of GCSS-Army.

Additionally, the ceremony honored recipients of the Logistics Excellence Awards, beginning with the Chief of Staff of the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence (AAME). Active MTOE winners included Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 207th Military Intelligence Brigade (Small) and the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade, commanded by Colonel Steven Curtis. The 551st Inland Cargo Transfer Company, commanded by Captain Anthony A. Hazboun, won the Active MTOE medium category and earned the Chief of Ordnance's "Best of the Best" Award. Other maintenance winners were Delta Company, 39th Brigade Support Battalion (National Guard Small); 267th Support Maintenance Company (National Guard Medium); 355th Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Company (Army Reserve Small); 941st Transportation Company (Army Reserve Medium); Korean Service Corps HET Company; and Red River Army Depot, commanded by Colonel Denis J. Fajardo (Depot).

The final segments recognized outstanding achievements in deployment, supply, and food service. In the Deployment Excellence Award (DEA) program, the Division Artillery Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, commanded by Colonel Patrick Kaine, won the Deploying Unit category and the Chief of Transportation’s "Best of the Best" Award, while Army Field Support Battalion-Riley won the Installation category. For the Supply Excellence Award (SEA), Echo Company, 5-7 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, commanded by Colonel Haileyesus Bairu, won the Active Component SSA category and secured the Quartermaster Commandant's "Best of the Best" Award.

Lastly, the Philip A. Connelly Awards for food service recognized the 223rd Quartermaster Company (Active Field Feeding Company); Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, Regiment Support Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment (Active BSB level, with Golf Forward Support Company as runner-up); the 769th Field Feeding Detachment (Reserve Field Kitchen); and the 1501st Quartermaster Field Feeding Platoon (National Guard Field Kitchen).
