Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) is observed every April to raise awareness, educate on prevention, support survivors, and advocate for change. During the month of April, Fort Knox will be hosting several events to bring awareness of sexual assault:

Strike Out Sexual Assault

Thursday, April 9, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Houston Bowling Center

Fort Knox MEDDAC is hosting Strike Out Sexual Assault. Many of the Fort Knox community partners will be in attendance providing information on services and to help educate and promote the prevention of sexual assault.

5k Trail Run/Walk

Tuesday, April 14, 6:45 a.m.

Starting point at the corner of Wilson Road and 9th Cavalry Regiment Avenue

Join us in a 5k trail run and walk along the Knox Trails on Wilson Road in observance of SAAPM. The event will begin at 6:45 a.m. and is open to military, civilians and family members. Parking is available across the street from the starting point.

“Louder Than Silence” concert with the As You Were band

Friday, April 24, 4-6 p.m.

HRC quad

The As You Were band will perform at the “Louder Than Silence” concert. The Human Resources Command is hosting this concert to support survivors of sexual assault, to educate, and to raise awareness of sexual assault and harassment. The event will also be supported and attended by food trucks, community partners, and guest speaker Dr. Alexandre Kennedy.

“Raise the Bars” annual motorcycle ride

Wednesday, April 29, 1 p.m.

HRC complex (between buildings 2 and 3)

The annual “Raise the Bars” motorcycle ride will start at HRC and travel down to our community partner SilverLeaf Trauma Recovery Center in Elizabethtown. Final words will be presented upon return to HRC.

Darkness to Light Ceremony

Thursday, April 30, 1 p.m.

HRC Concourse

To close out Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, the Human Resources Command will host the Darkness to Light Ceremony. This event is to supports victims and survivors of sexual assault and features guest speaker Dr. Alexandre Kennedy.
