Exhibition "The Heart - the Perfect Pump" in Torun
In the Mill of Knowledge, visitors can explore 23 interactive exhibits that lead them through the world of the circulatory system. From the structure of the heart, through blood circulation, to the processes occurring in heart muscle cells. This space allows them to peer inside the heart, trace blood circulation throughout the body, and understand how oxygen and nutrients reach every cell in the body.
" One of the most important elements of the exhibition is heart health prevention. The exhibit shows how everyday choices affect the health of the circulatory system, from diet and physical activity to stress and regeneration. It explains in an accessible way what happens in the body when the heart is working properly and what happens when disorders occur, " says Monika Wiśniewska, director of the Mill of Knowledge Innovation Center .
Visitors will also learn how to understand basic research findings that many of us perform but don't always understand:
- what is an ECG recording and what do its characteristic waves mean,
- how to read blood pressure values and when they exceed the norm,
- what signals the body sends before more serious health problems occur.
The exhibition also includes elements related to first aid and proper response to health-threatening situations. Visitors will learn basic principles of action that can help in situations requiring immediate action.
"Heart - The Perfect Pump" is an exhibition that goes beyond traditional sightseeing. It's a place where science meets everyday life, and the knowledge gained can truly impact our health and well-being. Because we only have one heart, it's worth getting to know it better.
The exhibition "Heart - The Perfect Pump" is accompanied by an extensive, multi-month program of events designed specifically for seniors. This is a unique opportunity to not only explore but also actively expand your knowledge and better understand the functioning of your own body. The program will include regular meetings and workshops, ensuring a diverse, engaging, and inspiring offering over several months.
Good Heart Laboratory (classes in the biology lab)
During the workshops, participants will learn about the structure and physiology of the heart and its role in the body, perform simple biological experiments, and see how the circulatory system functions.
The program includes, among others:
- simple experiments to detect and demonstrate why oxygen and carbon dioxide are crucial for the functioning of the circulatory system,
- learning about the structure of the heart on a macro- and microscopic scale by performing a heart dissection, observing a self-prepared preparation of heart tissue under an optical microscope and other human tissues,
- discussion of blood circulation in the body and the role of arteries, veins and capillaries.
Professional laboratory equipment is used during classes, including light microscopes, dissecting kits, automatic pipettes, and anatomical models.
At the Circulation Center. A Story about the Heart (educational trail at exhibitions)
Visiting exhibitions shows in an accessible way how lifestyle affects human health.
Participants:
- learn about the history of heart research,
- learn how everyday habits affect the condition of the body,
- understand the structure and functioning of the heart,
- will benefit from interactive stations and anatomical models.

Tires screech, engines roar, and intense driving at the new drift track in Tomaszów near Żagań.
A drift track has just opened in Tomaszów near Żagań. For fans of motorsports and aggressive driving, this is a new place to practice in a safe environment.
Driving in safe conditions
"These will be open drift training sessions; anyone interested in this type of driving is welcome, regardless of gender or skill level. There will be something for everyone, from driving with an instructor to a drift taxi for young car enthusiasts, but you can also bring your own car," says Piotr Skrzypek, who, along with Paweł Wąchała, invites you to the track. "You can have a good time here, in a safe place, in a closed facility, without other road users. The adrenaline will definitely be there. There aren't many similar tracks in Lubuskie and neighboring voivodeships, hence the idea to create such a place here. It's also an opportunity for those who train on a simulator. There's no age limit; it all depends on your skill level. We have a car you can rent and drive."
Adrenaline rush guaranteed
The facility offers complete infrastructure, allowing you to focus solely on driving and having fun, the organizers emphasize. They also plan to support children from orphanages, among others, who will also have the opportunity to drive on the track. Motoring rallies and other industry-related events will also be organized on-site.
We've already had the opportunity to try it out on the track, from the passenger seat, of course, but the experience is unforgettable. The ride with Piotr Skrzypek started off strong, and from there it only got faster and... very drifty. A tire had to be replaced mid-ride, but that only took a moment. An adrenaline rush is guaranteed. Fans of aggressive driving can get their hands on it next weekend.
In the link below you will find information about the dates of the upcoming training sessions. LINK TO THE WEBSITE
Żagań Commemorates the 82nd Anniversary of the Great Escape with Sport and Remembrance
This March, the town of Żagań will once again become a place of both reflection and dynamic activity as it marks the 82nd anniversary of the historic The Great Escape. The commemorations, held at the Museum of POW Camps, will combine solemn remembrance with a vibrant program of sports and public events.
The story of the Great Escape—immortalized in the classic film The Great Escape featuring Steve McQueen—remains one of the most remarkable episodes of World War II. In March 1944, Allied prisoners of war carried out a daring mass escape from the German camp Stalag Luft III, located in present-day Żagań. Today, the site stands as a powerful symbol of courage, resilience, and the enduring human desire for freedom.
This year’s commemorations will begin on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with a full day of activities open to the public. From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., visitors can explore a military-themed zone recreating the atmosphere of wartime camps. At 1:00 p.m., participants will take part in the “Escape Run,” followed by a children’s race at 5:00 p.m. The highlight of the day will be the 50th edition of the Żagań Cross Country Run for the Great Escape Cup, starting at 6:00 p.m., drawing athletes and spectators alike.
The official remembrance ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 24 at noon. The commemorative roll call will be preceded by a ceremonial flyover of Polish Air Force F-16 fighter jets, adding a powerful visual tribute to the occasion.
By blending sport, education, and remembrance, Żagań continues to honor the legacy of those who risked everything in the name of freedom—ensuring that the story of the Great Escape lives on for future generations.
