VICENZA, Italy — Leaders from U.S. Army Garrison Italy thanked Soldiers from the 3rd Platoon, 108th Military Police Company, during a redeployment ceremony Monday at Hoekstra Field Pavilion at Caserma Ederle.
The unit, normally based stateside, just concluded a nine‑month mission supporting USAG Italy’s Directorate of Emergency Services with law enforcement. During the rotation, the Soldiers supported every major installation event, including the Independence Day celebration and the annual holiday tree lighting. They also volunteered across the community and strengthened partnerships with host‑nation organizations.
During his remarks, Col. Vaughn Strong, USAG Italy’s commander, praised the platoon’s professionalism and impact on garrison security.
“Third platoon masterfully supported law enforcement operations in Italy, supporting garrison operations and conducting joint patrols with the Italian Carabinieri. This formation is a testament to the company's robust leadership and the discipline of its Soldiers,” Strong said. “The high standards set by the 108th in training, professionalism, and community policing became the new benchmark for our installation.”
Strong took time to recognize all 29 Soldiers in formation. The company’s 3rd Platoon and the company command team served in Italy, while other platoons supported law enforcement operations in Germany.
Capt. Maris Pichon, 108th Company Commander, also offered brief remarks.
“I am truly proud of this formation, I just wanted to give them a big round of applause because this company is nothing without the soldiers, NCO's and our young officers standing in formation, Pichon said. “Thank you for all you’ve done.”
The platoon helped refine Provost Marshal Office procedures and assisted in planning two major combined law enforcement exercises with the 3rd Platoon, 529th Military Police Company; the 525th Military Working Dog Detachment; and the Fire and Emergency Services team.
Lt. Col. Jonathan Kuhn, USAG Italy’s Provost Marshal and Director of Emergency Services, credited the platoon with setting high standards in training, professionalism and community policing.
“Over the last several months you helped plan and execute law enforcement exercises directly increasing our overall proficiency and emergency services,” Kuhn said. “I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for your dedication and outstanding support.”
