Polish RC Off-Road Model Championships to Take Place Dec. 13–14 in Toruń
On December 13 and 14 (Saturday-Sunday), the qualifying round of the Polish Indoor Championships of RC Off-Road models will be held in the hall of the Food Industry School Complex and the 8th Secondary School in Toruń.
This is one of the most important modeling events of the winter season in Poland, attracting top competitors from all over the country.
For the first time in history, Toruń will host the championship competition in this discipline, an event of special significance for both local fans and the modeling community. The Toruń round is the second of five planned off-road series installments, with this year's season encompassing a total of nine cities.
The best RC model drivers will compete on a specially prepared, indoor off-road track. Jumps, technical sections, fast sections, and variable driving pace will ensure the show delivers a huge dose of excitement for fans.
Competitors will race in six championship classes, and there will also be a Junior and Youth classification, which aims to support the development of the youngest modeling aspirants.
Admission to the event is free.
Fans will be able to not only watch spectacular races, but also see technologically advanced models up close, observe the work of the teams in the service area and talk to the competitors and RC modeling experts.
This is a unique opportunity to enter the world of modeling sports and feel the atmosphere of real championships - on a miniature, yet extremely dynamic scale.
COMPETITION PROGRAM
Saturday, 10:00-18:00: Qualifying sessions in a system similar to those known from Formula 1
Sunday, 10:00-15:00: Grand finals with massed start
For those unable to attend live, an online broadcast has been prepared on the Automobilklub Polski YouTube channel.
The Polish RC Model Championships are a very high-level competition, but at the same time they are also open to beginners - people taking their first steps in this exciting discipline can take part in specially prepared classes.
The roots of Polish model car racing date back to the 1970s, when the National Defense League (LG) organized its first competitions, and combustion-powered models dominated the tracks. However, technological advances have meant that electric models now play a more prominent role – faster, more precise, and suitable for indoor racing.
Since 2022, the Polish Championships have been organised by the Polish Automobile Club, actively developing the modelling community through competitions, training and promotional activities.
Toruń Begins 100-Day Countdown to 2026 World Indoor Athletics Championships
In just 100 days, Toruń will become the world capital of athletics. The 21st World Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 2026 will be held at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń from March 20 to 22, 2026.
"Toruń will become the epicenter of top-level athletics events, and we want to provide both athletes and coaching staff with the best possible conditions for their stay in our city," said Toruń Mayor Paweł Gulewski. "We are delighted that the World Indoor Championships will attract so many tourists. As a city, we are ready to welcome such a large number of guests. This will allow hotels and restaurants to set up fan zones and invite everyone to join us in supporting Polish athletes. We also want to create a fan zone in the New Town Square."
Both Toruń and the entire Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship are gearing up for the most important winter event in world track and field – the 26th Kujawy Pomerania World Indoor Championships. The championships will begin on March 20 and last for three days. Morning sessions will begin each day at 10:05 a.m., while afternoon sessions will begin at 6:35 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 5:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Mayor Paweł Gulewski assured that Toruń will be prepared for the championships. The arena's mondo surface has already been replaced. Work is currently underway on the arrangement and replacement of some infrastructure. The Toruń Municipality has already allocated over PLN 5 million for the work. The mayor recalled that yesterday, Minister of Sport and Tourism Jakub Rutnicki informed him of the decision to subsidize the modernization of the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń in the amount of PLN 6.2 million. He also thanked Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, for the near PLN 6 million and assured that Toruń is in the "starting blocks." He also thanked the Vistula Tourist Organization for its commitment and promotion of Toruń as a city connected to the Vistula River.
"Preparations are entering their final stages. We've completed a three-day visit from World Athletics, during which we received a positive assessment. There are areas that require more work, but we will certainly meet the expectations placed on us, " said Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
"I'm preparing intensively for the indoor season and training regularly at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń. I'm counting on the support of my own fans, because competing in my home country, and even more so in my own region, is a special event," said Polish decathlete and championship ambassador Adrianna Sułek.
"An event of the caliber of the World Indoor Championships in Poland is something special. I'm glad we'll be competing on home soil. The support from the fans will certainly be exceptional, and I'm counting on it, " added the ambassador, the outstanding Polish pole vaulter Piotr Lisek.
The President of the Polish Athletics Association, Sebastian Chmara, is convinced that organizing a major world event in Poland will help promote the Queen of Sports in Poland, which is one of the most important tasks of the Polish Athletics Association.
"We're implementing numerous initiatives to encourage young people to be more active and choose athletics. Major events like the Kujawy Pomorze 26 World Indoor Championships are a great opportunity to show Polish fans, especially younger ones who haven't had the opportunity yet, the beauty of our sport, " he emphasizes.
Ticket sales for the first batch began at the end of October. In total, nearly 3,000 tickets for each of the six sessions will be available for sale, and tickets can be purchased on the eBilet.pl website.
The first batch of tickets was made available to fans on Monday, and the next ones will be available at the beginning of next year.
"Some tickets from the first batch are still available, but we encourage fans planning to come to Toruń to purchase them in advance. The next batch will go on sale early next year, " said Krzysztof Wolsztyński, vice president of the Polish Athletics Association.
The national service provider is the Interrisk Vienna Insurance Group, which acts as the championship insurer.
During Tuesday's press conference, the official poster for the Kujawy Pomorze 26 World Indoor Championships was presented. It was also previously decided that the event's mascot would be a friendly goose named Goosia.
