The morning light of Veterans Day carries a quiet strength. On November 11, across the Country, flags rise in the crisp air, and parades gather in small towns and big cities alike. As Families and communities gather, Veterans, their uniforms adorned with patches, exchange stories of comrades and moments that tested their bodies and spirits during distant deployments. Collectively, our Country celebrates and remembers the brave men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States Army.

For the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps, Veterans Day is more than a national observance; it is a sacred day of gratitude and remembrance. From their first oath to their final homecoming, for 250 years, chaplains and religious affairs specialists have marched with Soldiers through every chapter of American history.

In observance of Veterans Day, Chaplain (CPT) Christie Torres offers a prayer for our Nation, our military, and each other:

"Heavenly Father, thank you for this incredible day. Thank you for giving us life. Thank you for this great Nation, for the many blessings that you have given her. It is a free land because of the generations of men and women who have fought to preserve its freedom.
Father, I pray that you would raise up a generation of brave young men and women who will respond to bravery and courage, who will respond to our Nation’s call of defending and protecting her. Give our young generation a heart to serve our Nation. Lord, I pray for our chaplains and our fellow teammates, and I pray for unity."

That sentiment captures the heart of Veterans Day. As we reflect on the freedoms we have inherited, freedoms earned through the courage and sacrifice of the Veterans who came before us, we are reminded that their service shapes the promise of tomorrow. Their courage inspires us to raise new generations ready to answer the call with the same steadfast hearts.

Upon completing their service to the Nation, chaplains and religious affairs specialists continue to embody the values that defined their time in uniform. Their stories and continued service inspire many to serve our Nation. Some Veterans devote themselves to civilian ministry, extending spiritual care beyond the uniform. Others lead programs that help fellow Veterans navigate life after service. Many also provide counseling to Families during reintegration or mentor the next generation of chaplains and religious affairs specialists, ensuring that the legacy of service endures.

No matter how or where they serve, the bonds that chaplains and religious affairs specialists form continue to link every act of service to the moral and spiritual strength that sustains our Nation, exemplifying the enduring principle that service to God and Country does not end when the uniform is removed.

To every Veteran, from every generation, the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps offers its deepest thanks. Your service endures. Your sacrifice is honored. And your story continues to guide this Nation toward a brighter tomorrow.

Pro Deo et Patria - For God and Country.
