Toruń Angels on the map

A new online project, "Toruń Angels," has launched, allowing visitors to explore the city from a completely different perspective. Following in the footsteps of Toruń's Angels. The Toruń Angels Map will be available in both digital and paper versions.

"The map is now available in paper format and can be downloaded from us, as well as electronically via our website. Each angel has a QR code that you can scan to take you to the website, which opens directly to videos in which guides introduce a specific angel, along with a full description. From there, you can follow the trail to other angels, " says Dagmara Zielińska, Deputy Mayor of Toruń . " Of course, we're also working on launching a mobile app next year."

The map of the "In the Footsteps of Toruń Angels" project is now available on the website www.torunskieanioly.pl at BTCM Toruń, VisitTorun Tourist Information Centre, District Museum in Toruń and from partners Jan Olbracht Browar Staromiejski, @miedzy_mostami_torun and Optometry Karczewski.

"In consultation with our partners, we have prepared two versions of the map – one electronic, the other paper ," says Łukasz Drygalski, Director of the Toruń City Centre Office. " We are creating a tourist product. We see great interest in the angels, which are being created in the Old Town complex, among both tourists and businesses."

The website is part of a larger project called "In the Footsteps of Toruń Angels," aimed at popularizing unusual symbols present in urban spaces.

Angels have been a part of Toruń's culture and architecture for centuries. They appear on the city's coat of arms, on details decorating monuments, in porcelain figurines, on stained glass windows, and at souvenir stands. From May 2025, they can be found in the form of small bronze sculptures throughout the city.

The website www.torunskieanioly.pl was developed by App Works and is aimed at both residents and tourists. The paper map was created by Lech Karczewski.

The new digital platform allows you to discover the angelic map of Toruń in an attractive way, where you will find:

  • a multimedia map of the angels' locations in the city space,
  • descriptions and videos about the sculptures,
  • historical information and curiosities related to the place where the angels are located, presented by guides,
  • proposals for walking routes that will make it easier for residents and tourists to explore the city in the footsteps of angels.

The portal is to be constantly developed and expanded with new content so that it becomes a complete guide to Toruń's angels.

The website is supplemented by printed maps, which can be downloaded free of charge at the Tourist Information Point and at the premises where the angels are located.

Transit photography competition in Torun

The Municipal Transport Authority in Toruń invites all photography and public transport enthusiasts to participate in the "Green frame from a trip through Toruń" competition, organized on the occasion of European Mobility Week.

The theme of the "Green Shot from a Trip Through Toruń" competition is to capture the beauty of our city's green spaces—parks, squares, vegetation, and nature—as seen from a bus or tram window. We're counting on interesting ideas, a wealth of detail, color, and meticulous craftsmanship.

To enter the competition, take a photo relevant to the theme and email it to marketing@mzk-torun.pl between September 16 and 22, 2025. Please include the competition name in the subject line : "Green shot from a trip through Toruń ." Your entry must also include a scan of the completed and signed registration form , which is attached as Appendix 1 to the Competition Rules.

The entries will be judged by a jury. Attractive prizes await the authors of the best photos. First place will receive JBL Tune Beam 2 ANC wireless in-ear headphones, second place will receive a JBL Flip 6 mobile speaker, and third place will receive a TECH-PROTECT L03S Bluetooth Tripod selfie stick.

The competition results will be announced by September 26 this year on the website www.mzk-torun.pl and on the MTA Facebook fanpage.

The organizers encourage everyone to participate, emphasizing that riding a bus or tram can be not only a means of transportation but also an inspiration to discover the beauty of the city. It's a unique opportunity to see Toruń from a new perspective – through the prism of daily public transport journeys – and capture its green, vibrant face in photos.

The competition is carried out as part of the promotional and educational activities of the project "Purchase of a zero-emission bus fleet serving extra-urban bus lines", co-financed by the European Union under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Let's clean up the world together in Torun!

The Clean Up the World campaign is upon us. After three decades, the finale of this event returns to Toruń.

"Located on both sides of the Vistula River, Toruń is one of Poland's oldest cities. What makes this metropolitan area unique is not only its rich history, historic architecture, Nicolaus Copernicus, or gingerbread. It's also a remarkable green zone full of biodiversity, which makes up over 30% of our city, " says Paweł Gulewski, Mayor of Toruń. "That's why we chose "Martówka," or the Vistula River Oxbow Lake in Toruń, as the place where, together with the Nasza Ziemia Foundation and invited guests, we will symbolically launch the 32nd Clean Up the World-Poland campaign. Together, we will clean up this favorite place for walks and relaxation for Toruń residents, setting a good example for others on how to spend time responsibly in a place where the city coexists in harmony with nature, " adds Mayor Gulewski.

"We cordially invite you to the 32nd Finale of the Clean Up the World campaign. After three decades, we're returning to Toruń. In 1994, the first Clean Up the World campaign took place in Toruń, " says Joanna Pepłowska, President of Municipal Cleaning Company Sp. z o.o. in Toruń.

The finale of the nationwide campaign will take place on September 19-20 in Toruń's Martówka and New Town Square (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.). This year's Clean Up the World - Poland campaign is held under the slogan "Into Nature with Culture."

We're planning, among other things, a cleanup of Martówka, eco-friendly stands and workshops, and in the Old Town there will be great attractions prepared by the organizers, including an eco-town, a 3D model of the "Earth" ship, and, as always, our Transformers from MPO.

We will also be accepting from residents:

  • used electrical and electronic equipment,
  • medicines
  • batteries, accumulators.

We cordially invite all residents! Join the event!

Due to the event, traffic disruptions may occur. Locations of buffer parking lots and parking lots within the Old Town area can be found >>HERE<<
