ANSBACH, Germany – U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach is improving the vehicle inspection and registration process for community members by relocating the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) from Barton Barracks to Katterbach Kaserne.
The intent behind the move is to bring all three key vehicle in-processing steps — vehicle pickup, inspection, and registration — closer together, streamlining the experience for Soldiers, civilians and families.
The move completes efforts to consolidate the services into a one-stop location. In July 2025, the Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) Inspection Facility moved from Barton Barracks to Katterbach Kaserne. And the Vehicle Registration Office (VRO) is already located at Katterbach.
Currently, U.S. military personnel in Ansbach complete vehicle in-processing in three steps:
- Pick up your vehicle at the VPC
- Get your vehicle inspected at the POV Inspection Facility
- Register your vehicle at the VRO
Vehicle Processing (Bldg. 5810), Vehicle Inspection (Bldg. 5836) and Vehicle Registration (Bldg. 5810) will now be co-located within walking distances of each other at Katterbach.
