Trams to Return to Głogowska Street in Poznań on August 1
On August 1st, trams will return to the Kórnicka via the St. Roch Bridge and Głogowska Street. Following the completion of the work, the track overlay before the intersection with Hetmańska Street will be removed on Wednesday and Thursday, July 30th and 31st, to prepare the track for full operation. From August 1st (Friday), there will be changes to service due to the commencement of work at the Bałtyk and Traugutta junctions.
On Wednesday and Thursday, July 30 and 31, trams of line no. 11 will run on a different route than last time (the changed part is in bold):
PIĄTKOWSKA - Wołyńska - Małopolska - Wielkopolska - Pułaskiego - Roosevelta - Dworcowy Bridge - POZNAŃ GŁÓWNY - Towarowa - Święty Marcin - Kaponiera roundabout - Roosevelta - Pułaskiego - Wielkopolska - Małopolska - Wołyńska - PIĄTKOWSKA
On Głogowska Street, instead of the tram, the T11 bus line will operate:
RONDO KAPONIERA - Roosevelta - Głogowska - GŁOGOWSKA/HETMAŃSKA - Głogowska - Winklera - Kasprzaka - Hetmańska - GŁOGOWSKA/HETMAŃSKA - Głogowska - Roosevelta - Bukowska - Zeylanda - Zwierzyniecka - RONDO KAPONIERA .
Buses on line T11 will begin their journeys at the Rondo Kaponiera stop located on Zwierzyniecka Street, right next to the roundabout, and end up at the stop of the same name, located on Zwierzyniecka Street after the turn from Zeylanda Street.
Buses will stop at all existing tram stops along the route, except:
- Most Dworcowy junction - buses will stop at the stops along the Roosevelta Street roadway,
- Głogowska/Hetmańska junction - buses will stop at temporary stops located on the roadway of Głogowska Street parallel to the tram stops.

Floral Carpet Honors 1,000th Anniversary of Bolesław the Brave’s Coronation
A unique decoration has been created in Citadel Park to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of Bolesław the Brave's coronation. Over 10,000 flowers create a spectacular carpet in honor of Poland's first king.
Since mid-June, the Summer Flower Garden at the Citadel has been hosting a unique, vibrant decoration commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of Bolesław the Brave's coronation. The arrangement, made of 10,401 carefully selected flowers, has captivated both strolling residents and tourists.
The central element of the floral arrangement is a huge inscription "1000 years" and royal insignia composed of colorful plants, which refer to the historical event of 1025, when Bolesław the Brave was crowned the first king of Poland.
The composition features the most numerous Coleus plants, including nettles (2,038) and geraniums (1,659). Other plants used to create this impressive installation include marigolds, ash-grass, impatiens, mosquitoes, and glossy sage.
The floral carpet can be admired along the 15th Poznań Uhlan Regiment avenue - in one of the most representative parts of the park - until the first signs of autumn.
Poznań to Debut Commemorative Tram Marking Transit Milestones
Moderus Beta, number 459, will commemorate important anniversaries: the 145th anniversary of public transport and the 100th anniversary of bus transport in Poznań. The car will feature graphics depicting vehicles that once served passengers, as well as those currently used by the carrier.
A horse-drawn tram. A Bergische Stahlindustrie Type I motor car, the first electric tram to operate in Poznań. A trolleybus. A public transport company taxi. A diesel locomotive from Maltanka – as well as other historic and contemporary trams and buses that have transformed the face of public transport. These graphics will be displayed on Moderus Beta. Each one will include the year the vehicle first appeared in Poznań and a brief note about it. All this against the backdrop of the city's landmarks.
A tram decorated in this way will hit the tracks in the capital of Greater Poland next Monday. It will serve as a reminder that the history of public transport here dates back to 1880. At that time, the Poznań Horse Railway Society was established, granted the rights to build and operate trams, and on July 31st, the first regular tram line, then horse-drawn, opened. In 1898, it was replaced by an electric one, and in 1925, the city bus service arrived. Much has changed over the years, as technology has advanced, but MPK has not forgotten its past, which is directly linked to the city's history, development, and operation.
"We want to celebrate this unique double anniversary of 145 years of public transport and 100 years of bus service in Poznań with residents and passengers. The tram, which will soon be rolling out onto Poznań's tracks, is a harbinger of things to come. I would like to sincerely thank the artist SiXi for her support in realizing this unique project. Without her talent, skills, and openness, the idea would not have stood a chance of coming to fruition," says Krzysztof Dostatni, CEO of MPK Poznań.
The artist, known under the pseudonym SiXi, does not hide her passion for trams and Poznań architecture, which is why working on graphics for MPK Poznań gave her particular pleasure.
"I feel incredibly honored and grateful to MPK Poznań for entrusting me with creating a series of graphics that will adorn the tram commemorating the 145th anniversary of public transport and the 100th anniversary of bus service in Poznań," she says. "I would like to emphasize that this is the largest project in my career, in terms of the amount of work involved, as each graphic on the tram's wrapping was handcrafted by me. I hope that the residents of Poznań will appreciate and love this unique tram."
The tram will be carrying passengers starting Monday (it will depart from the Górczyn PKM terminus after 11:00 a.m. and will continue carrying passengers on lines 5 and 91 until the evening). The main celebrations of the 145th anniversary of public transport and the 100th anniversary of bus transport in Poznań are planned for the fall. Details will be announced soon.
New Cipher Machine Added to Enigma Cipher Center Exhibition
Starting July 29th, visitors to the Enigma Cipher Center can view a new military-grade cipher machine. It was lent for safekeeping by the Internal Security Agency's Central Training and Education Center named after Gen. Stefan Rowecki "Grot" in Wiązowna, near Warsaw.
"Enigma is not only a symbol of history, but also a source of pride for our city. It was here, in Poznań, that future heroes learned mathematics, encrypted messages, and prepared to tackle the greatest secrets of war," said Jędrzej Solarski, Deputy Mayor of Poznań. "Since its inception, the Enigma Cipher Center has been visited by over 170,000 people. This is the best proof that history can fascinate, educate, and simultaneously thrill – especially for the younger generation."
The machine on display is a version of the Enigma I model, which is significantly modified from the original. It was assembled from components of machine serial number A14632 (manufactured before 1941 by Chiffrirmaschinen AG in Berlin) and machine serial number A00548/bac/43E (manufactured in 1943 by Ertel-Werk für Feinmechanik in Munich).
The modifications that gave the exhibit a unique character included:
- elimination of the connecting road,
- enlarging the rotor window in the front plate,
- changing the connections of all rotors,
- adding a fourth rotor and a custom headlight adapted from the standard rotor,
- changing rotor descriptions from numerical to letter-based,
- turning the entire rotor battery by 180 degrees, which prevented the operation of their shifting mechanism.
The modifications made are likely the result of the aircraft being prepared for operational use in the post-war period by an unspecified special service. The manner and extent of its post-war use remains a mystery.
Enigma on display
The Enigma cipher machine, loaned by the Internal Security Agency, is the sixth version of this cryptological device presented at the Enigma Cipher Center exhibition.
The primary mission of the facility is to promote the achievements of Polish cryptologists - Marian Rejewski, Henryk Zygalski and Jerzy Różycki and their collaborators in breaking the Enigma code.
The Enigma Cipher Center is the newest brand of the Poznań Heritage Center, presenting the history of Poznań in a modern way. Since its inception in 2021, it has been building awareness of the achievements of the employees of the pre-war Polish Army Cipher Bureau and the impact their achievements have had on the development of the digital world.
