WIESBADEN, Germany – As the Army continues to emphasize programs and initiatives that invest in existing facilities through modernization and quality of life improvements, as well as new construction that emphasizes growth and expansion, one IMCOM-Europe employee enjoys the planning process of this long-term endeavor.
“I love that the work is engaging, impactful, and challenging,” said Meghe Pasienza, management support officer for IMCOM-E G4. “I manage ETMS2 taskers for the division, assist with facilitating personnel actions, assist with region prioritization for the Army Family Housing Investment Plan and Facility Investment Plan, and assist with generally any other tasks that support my team.”
Her previous assignment with U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden’s Directorate of Public Works provided Pasienza insight on how installations prioritize their infrastructure needs through the region via the annual FIP process. Working at the staff level for the last two years, she now has a deeper understanding of the full process as the region continually works with HQ IMCOM G4 to finalize requirements up to Army Materiel Command.
It's a lot to keep tabs on – with IMCOM-E’s Housing Investment Plan totaling $18.1B across 319 projects – but the importance of the program to the quality of life for Soldiers and Families gives her a sense of making a difference.
“Everything is interesting,” she said. “I’m still rather new to the public sector so I love that this position touches on various topics within Installation Management. I am constantly learning.”
Prior to joining the federal service five years ago, Pasienza attended the University of South Florida where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and then completed her Masters in Business Administration through the University of Maryland Global Campus.
“I have an interest in project management and love helping a team succeed,” she said. “I get to work in an incredible team. And as I’ve come to learn in the last few months, having a supportive team really makes all the difference. The work is challenging but in a good way. I guess you could say that the challenge is not having enough hours in the day.”
Despite the long hours, the Bradenton, Fla., native finds time for her hobbies and interests, which include weightlifting, reading and drawing (graphite/charcoal, gouache, and oil painting).
“I’ve been into weightlifting for about 8 years, but I am not competitive,” she explained. “I just like to stay fit and active. I work out 3-4 days a week. I love playing sports, but since there really aren’t many intramural sport options for civilians, weightlifting it is.”
