HHC AMCOM has a new first sergeant at the start of its move to the Garrison.
Master Sgt. Timothy Edgerton succeeded 1st Sgt. Michael Mills in a change of responsibility ceremony Friday at Bob Jones Auditorium.
“It gives me opportunity to create change myself,” Edgerton said. “I never thought I would have made it to this rank (of becoming a company first sergeant).”
This week the unit’s first sergeant and its Company Commander Capt. Maria Salih began reporting to the Garrison. It is still called Headquarters & Headquarters Company AMCOM because the name reflagging, heraldry and transition of its two civilian administrative staffers are still in the works.
At the July 9 community update, Garrison Commander Col. Erin Eike said the unit will transition to HHC Garrison hopefully this fiscal year.
“Definitely the end of an era,” Mills said. He has now joined the Aviation and Missile Command Logistics Center, and he plans to retire Sept. 30, 2026, after 28 years of service. Mills served as company first sergeant since March 27, 2023.
“He’s been my mentor but most importantly he has been my friend,” Salih said.
Edgerton, 35, from Walterboro, South Carolina, formerly served with Army Materiel Command, G-4 (Logistics) section. He has been in the Army more than 16 years.
HHC AMCOM provides administrative services for about 520 Soldiers, representing 27 tenant units, at Redstone Arsenal.
The transition to HHC Garrison is a result of the Army Transformation Initiative alignment for force management of personnel.
