1st Sgt. Jason Morales assumed responsibility as the new first sergeant of the 3-6 Air and Missile Defense Test Detachment June 27 during a ceremony at the Cox Range Control Center.
Morales thanked all guests for attending the ceremony.
“It is an honor to stand before you today as I accept the authority and responsibility of leadership within this outstanding unit,” Morales said. “I am truly humbled by the trust placed on me and I do not take this responsibility lightly.”
“The 3-6 AMD-TD has a unique and vital role in our Army’s readiness ensuring our air and missile defense capabilities are rigorously tested, validated and ready to defend our forces and our nation.”
3-6 AMD-TD Commander Capt. Taylor JohnMorton welcomed Morales and his family to the detachment.
“The first sergeant is a master trainer, the manager of discipline, the mentor of all under his purview, the caretaker of Soldiers and the advisor of all unit actions,” JohnMorton said. “The first sergeant is the one who builds the foundations of the unit and upholds the pride and traditions of the same. 1st Sgt. Morales has already demonstrated his ability to uphold all of these and more in his past role.”
Several Soldiers and WSMR leaders attended the event.
