FORT KNOX, Ky. — About two dozen young men and women from the Elizabethtown area raised their right hands in front of the entrance to the Patton Museum of Leadership June 14.
In celebration of the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday, the recruits recited their oath of enlistment in front of a sizable crowd of Fort Knox and surrounding area leaders before participating in the opening of a new wing at the museum followed by a two-cake cutting ceremony.
“It’s fitting that we include these new recruits as part of our 250-year history,” said Richard Davis, the museum curator. Dressed in a colonial uniform, Davis swore in the new recruits.
The new museum wing touches on the 107-year history of Fort Knox and is expected to expand in time.
