LIVORNO, Italy — Livorno Elementary and Middle School hosted a vibrant and engaging Career Day recently, welcoming a diverse group of professionals who shared their experiences and inspired students to think about their futures.

The event featured a wide array of careers, with guest speakers including a civil engineer, banker, eye doctor, dog sitter, commissary manager, anti-terrorism officer, lawyer, firefighters, helicopter pilot, and more. Each presenter provided insight into their day-to-day responsibilities, the education and training required for their roles, and what motivated them to pursue their chosen paths.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to spark curiosity and inspire students by helping them focus on their future,” said Villett Ferreri, a math and Advancement Via Individual Determination AVID teacher at the school. “It helps them see the relevance of what they’re learning and connects their studies to real-world opportunities.”

Career Day is part of the school’s broader effort to promote college and career readiness, a key component of the AVID program, which supports students in setting long-term goals and developing the skills to achieve them.
