PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center's STEM office, in coordination with Universal Technical Resource Services (UTRS), Inc., hosted a tour for students enrolled at Morris Knolls High School on April 22.

A partnership between the schools' engineering department and Picatinny Arsenal developed in 2021, providing students an opportunity to intern while continuing their high school education, with the possibility for future part-time or full -time employment.

"We are extremely grateful for the Morris Knolls School administration for allowing us to be a part of the process as the young adults prepare to further their education in the Engineering and Manufacturing fields," said Lisa Marie Agolio, an Operations Assistant with UTRS.

During the tour, students received presentations from both U.S. Army and U.S. Navy representatives, while taking a first-hand look at equipment and technology to include self-propelled howitzers and M1 Abrams Tanks, Simulated Weapons Environment Testbed, Manufacturing and Prototyping Technology Facility, and the Naval Surface Ware Center Indian Head Division Picatinny Detachment's Gun Turret Facility.

"This gave the students a small glimpse of what their future manufacturing or engineering careers might look like if they choose to intern or be employed in the military field after graduation," said Agolio.

Picatinny Arsenal is home to the Armaments Center, one of the Army’s premier research and development facilities, employing thousands of workers in technical fields.

The U.S. Army has long given the Armaments Center the immense responsibility of being its primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems, which are used by U.S. service members around the world. We partner with a wide variety of organizations, including industry, academia, and other government agencies to accelerate the development and transition of new technologies for the warfighter.
