WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (May 21, 2025) – The heart of the White Sands Missile Range community was on full display as residents gathered on May 20 for the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, honoring the selfless contributions of local volunteers.
Held at the Frontier Club Ballroom, the event drew a large crowd eager to express appreciation for those who dedicate their time and energy to bettering the community. White Sands Missile Range Commander Brig. Gen. George Turner and White Sands Missile Range Garrison Commander Col. Donyeill Mozer heralded the impact of volunteerism in various community programs, with praising speeches highlighting these individuals' significant roles.

"We are privileged to recognize 27 priceless volunteers for their hard work and dedication during calendar year 2024," said Turner. "Volunteers at Bataan Memorial Death March. Priceless. Volunteers at the Trinity Site Open House. Priceless. Volunteers at the movie theater. Priceless. Volunteers at the school. Priceless."
As Turner continued to address the audience, he shared that, "the strength of White Sands Missile Range lies in its military, civilian and family members. Moreover, the strength of our community lies in the hearts of our volunteers."

As Maria Pangborn, Army Volunteer Coordinator for the White Sands Army Community Services, called out each volunteer, applause and cheers filled the room, showcasing the gratitude felt by all in attendance.
