FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Fort Leonard Wood and Maneuver Support Center of Excellence leaders are set to host the Protection Senior Leader Forum May 13 and 14, on the installation and virtually through a video conference application.
“The event is being executed on May 13, with a second day focused on the expo at Nutter Field House to better understand the array of equities and requirements that must be developed and integrated in support of the Protection Warfighting Function,” said Col. Joe Elsner, Training and Doctrine Command Proponent Office for Protection chief.
According to Elsner, the theme for this year’s forum is focused on command post survivability.
“We have presenters from across Mission Command Center of Excellence and Fires Center of Excellence focusing on command post survivability,” Elsner said.
“Command post survivability is the quality or capability of military forces that allows them to avoid or withstand enemy actions or environmental conditions while maintaining the ability for the commander to organize and synchronize command and control networks, systems and procedures to assist them in exercising mission command,” he explained.
The two-day event will provide opportunities for Army senior leaders and command post survivability subject matter experts to discuss how MSCoE views protection; and hold panels with a host of senior leaders across the operational and institutional force, including TRADOC, Combined Arms Center and MSCoE.
Elsner said the target audience for the forum are protection cell members, Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Soldiers and all proponents of the Protection Warfighting Function.
According to Elsner, invitations, with the virtual option for those that cannot travel, have already been sent out, including Soldiers at Fort Leonard Wood currently attending U.S. Army Professional Military Education.
