WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (April 29, 2025) - On April 25, White Sands Missile Range celebrated the Month of the Military Child with an evening dedicated to all young people, featuring fun activities and food.

Families and community members gathered to partake in the festivities hosted by the White Sands Missile Range Garrison Child & Youth Services. The theme for the month is "Celebrating Military Children and Youth: Building Stronger Character and Relationships."

"The Department of Defense has recognized military children and youth during the month of April for their service, commitment, and sacrifice in support of their military family and mission," said Reina Marquez, Outreach Services Director for Child & Youth Services.
Marquez reiterated CYS' dedication to excellence in supporting military children and youth throughout the month and beyond.

"WSMR Child & Youth Services is committed to showing our appreciation for all military children and youth by offering various events," Marquez said. "The Month of the Military Child Celebration at the Middle School & Teen Center featured inflatables, a video game truck, laser tag, kettle corn, and delicious food."
The Middle School & Teen Center transformed into a bustling hub of activity. Bouncy inflatables filled the gymnasium, inviting children to jump, bounce, and giggle. Outside, kids soared through the air on a bungee trampoline and tackled a large climbing wall.

The families awaited a selection of delicious food options as they gathered around tables to enjoy their meals, sharing stories and laughter, making new friends, and strengthening community bonds.

During the event, WSMR Garrison Commander Col. Donyeill Mozer recognized White Sands youth Isabel Valles, the 2025 Junior Youth of the Year, at White Sands Missile Range.

It was a day to appreciate the resilience and strength of military children—those brave young individuals navigating the unique challenges of military life.
