PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - U.S. Army Garrison Picatinny Arsenal leadership signed two proclamations during an all-hands meeting in The Club at Picatinny on April 22.
Lt. Col. Craig A. Bonham II, garrison commander, Command Sgt. Maj. David M. Franks, garrison command sergeant major, and Fortunato Rubio, deputy garrison commander, signed agreements in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault and Awareness Month.
Child Abuse Prevention Month is recognized nationally in April. The purpose of the monthly theme is to raise awareness to the community that it is everyone’s responsibility to know the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect as a way of preventing such abuse.
Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) is recognized in April by both civilian and military communities. The Department of Defense observes SAAPM by focusing on creating the appropriate culture to eliminate sexual assault, and by requiring a personal commitment from all service members to act to prevent sexual assault.
