White Sands Missile Range Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Cordery relinquished responsibility as WSMR’s Command Sergeant Major during a ceremony April 24 at the Organ Mountain Parade Field.

WSMR Commander Brig. Gen. George C. Turner said that for the past seven hundred days we have depended on Command Sgt. Maj. Cordery. “He has never let us down.”

“While you are in Alabama, we hope you will look back at your time in New Mexico with a great sense of pride and accomplishment,” Turner said.

Cordery said it has been great working with and learning from the incredibly talented workforce at Team WSMR.

“To the Garrison thank you for taking care of the needs of our community and finding ways to make our community better now and in the future.”

To the directors in the G staff, he said thank you for being flexible with the many changes that have occurred over the past two years. “You remained focused on the mission and our people.”

“I am proud to have been part of the incredible history here at White Sands Missile Range, working alongside professional and innovative Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Guardians and civilians that make up team WSMR.”

Finally, Cordery thanked his wife Amanda and his two sons, who are serving in the U.S. Army, Sgt. Cameron Cordery, and Pvt. 1st Class Adam Cordery, for their support throughout his career.

Cordery will assume duties as the United States Army Security Assistance Command CSM on June 20, 2025.
