Poznań Race Smashes Attendance Records, Causing Traffic Chaos

The number of registered participants in the 17th PKO Poznań Half Marathon is approaching 14 thousand. The race will take place on Sunday – April 13.

Everything indicates that the race, which will take place this coming Sunday on the streets of Poznań, will break the attendance record.

"The largest number of runners started in Poznań in 2016. At that time, 11,347 people crossed the finish line at Plac Marka" - recalls the director of the 17th PKO Poznań Half Marathon, Łukasz Miadziołko. "We dream of breaking this result and it is very real, because the interest in starting in Poznań is huge. This required us to increase the registration limit, which we did with joy.”

Although the route of the half marathon is the same as last year, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the difficulties that may appear this coming Sunday. The route starts on Grunwaldzka Street near the Baltic Sea and ends at the Poznań International Fair, looping around or cutting through Łazarz, Wilda, the Old Town, Jeżyce and Grunwald. The race route will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Additionally, Grunwaldzka Street on the section from the intersection with Roosevelta Street to the intersection with Szylinga/Matejki Streets will be closed from 6:00 a.m.

The entire Half Marathon route will have so-called locks, which will allow you to cut through the race route. However, please note that when the main group of competitors is running through a given section, it will be impossible to pass through the locks. Passengers of public transport should also expect difficulties. We will provide detailed information about all difficulties on epoznan.pl on the day of the event.

"People who have questions about getting around Poznań during the Half Marathon can use a special hotline. The number 502 622 438 will be available from Thursday to Sunday (April 10-13): during the following hours: Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.," informs Filip Borowiak, spokesman for POSiR.

"Information about the difficulties on leaflets also reached Poznań residents living near the race route. It is also worth paying attention to voice announcements in public transport and information boards placed along the Half Marathon route," adds the spokesperson and reminds that on the day of the race it is worth using the innovation prepared by Poznańskie Inwestycje Miejskie - a map that is an overlay on the Google Maps service.

"Thanks to immediate updates, it will be possible to find out what section has already been covered by all participants of the race and in what places traffic is returning on a daily basis. The overlay will make it easier for drivers and residents to move around in the area of our race and will allow to avoid inconveniences when moving around Poznań during the 17th PKO Poznań Half Marathon, " he emphasizes.

Warta's Popular Attraction Returns for Longest Season Ever

It's about the Klub na fali.

The new season of Klub na Fali in Poznań will begin at the earliest in its history. Work on the infrastructure began on April 1, and the opening is planned for mid-month, before Easter.

Although this year the club in the capital of Wielkopolska is celebrating only its fourth birthday, the entire brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary. 20 years have passed since the creation of the Klub na Fali brand. Its history began at Lake Dominickie in Boszkowo. On the occasion of the anniversary, a real revolution in the entertainment offer and new experiences for guests were announced for this season.

“2025 is to be a breakthrough for Klub na Fali, not only because it will be the longest (April-September). The changes concern both the infrastructure and the offer itself. The need to build a place every year and dismantle it has a huge advantage - the possibility of changing the setting every season. And this year the club will change its setting, and will also expand by 1,000 sq m, getting closer to the Warta River. This will allow for the creation of an even richer sports and family offer (beach volleyball, boules, inflatables) but also for the creation of a new Martini beach. It is worth noting that a larger than usual part of the infrastructure will be covered, " inform the organizers.

"This is not the end of the novelties, because the set of Klub na Fali in Poznań will also feature a fenced, ticketed "Adults only" event zone, where top-shelf music events will take place, " it added.

The club is already revealing its summer line-up - the DJ booth set up in the heart of the beach will feature NeeVald, Bartes, Malvee, John James and many other artists known from the Poznań club scene. This season, in addition to Friday and Saturday music events, Sunday brunches with house and R&B sounds will take a special place. There will be no shortage of iconic events, such as Summer New Year's Eve or White Party, and the new thing will be, among others, energetic samba rhythms straight from Rio de Janeiro.

In addition, it was announced that a loyalty application will be launched, thanks to which each visit will be rewarded with points, which can be exchanged for prizes.

Pyrkon Celebrates 25 Years with Poznań Takeover

On the wall of pavilion no. 6 at the Poznań International Fair - from the side of Bukowska Street, opposite the exit of Zeylanda Street - a mural with the image of heroes from various fantasy universes has appeared. The dominant colors are purple and green - for many people, it is associated with a unique event that takes place every spring in the capital of Wielkopolska. The described mural was created as part of a special anniversary - Pyrkon is already 25 years old.

It is the year 2000, at Primary School No. 21 at ul. Łozowa 77 in Poznań, fantasy enthusiasts gather. In total, there are about 500 people. The event is organized by the Fantasy Club "Druga Era". 25 years have passed since then. Today, the Pyrkon Fantasy Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe, gathering over 50 thousand people every year.

In 2011 - due to the growing number of participants - the event moved from schools (over time the event took place in several buildings, not just one) to the Poznań International Fair. Currently, Pyrkon - on the weekend it takes place - occupies most of the MTP area, i.e. approx. 150,000 sq m (as much as almost 21 football pitches).

It was at the Poznań International Fair that a mural was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the festival.

“We wanted an element referring to our event to appear in the urban space. We want to emphasize that Pyrkon is a Poznań festival that is strongly connected to this city,” - explains Magdalena Walczak, deputy director of marketing at the Pyrkon Fantasy Festival.

In order to make the mural truly unique, a competition was organized to design it. The idea was for the mural to reflect the spirit of the event - its values, passion and the festival community of Pyrkon participants. Additionally, the project was to take into account the space of the Poznań International Fair, where Pyrkon has been held for years.

“There was a lot of interest. We received 87 works,” says Magdalena Walczak.

Ultimately, Oliwia Kruszka's design won, but 4 distinctions were also awarded. Work on the mural lasted several days. The result can already be admired. The mural was created by the Poznań studio Mur-ALL. It is 11 meters high and 21 meters wide. It will definitely remain in the city space until spring next year.

“We want to celebrate the anniversary in Poznań by adding other elements related to our festival. However, we will not reveal any details at this time,” says Magdalena Walczak.

In June, fantasy fans will come to Poznań again

This year's edition of the Pyrkon Fantasy Festival will take place on June 13-15 at MTP. Ticket sales have been ongoing for several months now. As always, a rich program of events awaits participants - including interesting lectures, concerts, workshops, cosplay shows and meetings with exceptional guests - actors, writers and other stars of the fantasy world. You will be able to visit thematic zones dedicated to various activities, issues and universes (Literary, Scientific, Film and TV Series, Comics, Gaming, Manga and Anime, RPG, Board Games, Cosplay, Workshops and many others). Several hundred exhibitors will present their offers.

Information about the attractions and guests visiting the festival is constantly updated. People who want to find out what awaits them during this year's edition of the event can visit the dedicated website - www.pyrkon.pl .
