The Fort Knox commanding general has authorized the use of the Trusted Traveler Program from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding training and federal holidays. This effort is aimed at helping improve access measures for those wishing to utilize the post’s recreational offerings.
The program allows sponsors, or “trusted travelers” with valid DoD credentials (specifically service members and their dependents ages 18 and older as well as military retirees and their spouses and DoD civilian employees with a common access card only), to vouch for no more than five non-military-affiliated passengers in a single non-commercial vehicle, negating the need for this category of passengers to always first obtain a visitor pass as long as the below-mentioned criteria are met.
By vouching for vehicle occupants, sponsors are confirming that occupants do not have any warrants or criminal history that would preclude them from otherwise obtaining a visitor pass.
Trusted Traveler passengers over the age of 18 must still present a valid state driver’s license/ID at installation access points and always remain with their sponsor while on the installation. Following the May 7 REAL ID implementation deadline, passengers must present either a REAL ID or traditional ID with approved supplemental documentation (birth certificate, social security card, passport).
Visit the Fort Knox website to learn more about installation access here.
NOTE: DoD contractors are not eligible to serve as sponsors. Passengers with foreign passports, ride share vehicles (e.g. Uber or Lyft) or taxi services are not authorized to participate in Trusted Traveler Program. The Trusted Traveler Program may be suspended at any time if deemed necessary by installation leadership, the installation force protection level is increased, or the Automated Installation Entry System is not operational.
