Staff Sgt. Colton T. Smith, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), 4th Battalion, Honor Guard Company, received cruiserweight championship runner-up honors in the All Army Combatives tournament from Sept. 17-20 at Fort Benning, Ga. The tournament included 316 competitors from all over the globe. Smith was in the cruiserweight division, winning his first six fights. With a winning bracket of 6-0, he faced the winner of another cruiserweight bracket for the finals. Smith lost when his opponent defeated him with a front choke. Smith also has a winning bracket of 4-0 in fights outside the army in and around the northern Virginia area.
