By Capt. Aaron BlevinsFebruary 20, 2025

SKOPJE, North Macedonia – Advisors from Force Package 25-1 Europe continue making a significant impact with their NATO Allies and Partners. During a recent training event, the 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) Advisors showcased the importance and capabilities they bring to the table by leading a Role 1 medical training exercise with Soldiers from North Macedonia’s armed forces. The training, led by Staff Sgt. Christian Noble and Sgt. Kiera Kyle, both demonstrated how interoperability can save lives on the battlefield.

Role 1 care, the first echelon of battlefield medical support, includes triage, stabilization, and treatment of injuries to prevent further deterioration. The exercise brought together Soldiers from various military occupational specialties (MOS), emphasizing the critical role that all Soldiers play in combat medical scenarios.

“Our goal was to improve combat medical readiness by ensuring all Soldiers, regardless of their role, have a basic understanding of emergency medical care,” Noble said. “Training with our NATO Allies allows us to build trust and confidence in one another’s capabilities.”

The course blended classroom instruction with practical, hands-on scenarios. North Macedonia’s military doctor and medics collaborated closely with the 4th SFAB team to demonstrate essential procedures, including patient assessment, hemorrhage control, and casualty evacuation. Participants were evaluated on their performance in simulated combat situations designed to mimic real-world conditions.
