FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — The Transition Assistance Program team is partnering with the Education Services Division to organize the Fort Leonard Wood Career and Education Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 27 in Nutter Field House.
According to Zanti Drexler, an education services specialist with Fort Leonard Wood’s Education Services Division, this is the first time her division has teamed up with the Transition Assistance Program to bring the career and education fairs together.
“Providing a space for participants to explore both education and career avenues will empower them to take charge of their future,” Drexler said.
Walter Harris, the transition services manager with TAP, said the fair is designed for transitioning service members, but the fair is also open to retirees, veterans, family members and Department of the Army civilians.
“We have 35 employers scheduled to attend the career fair,” Harris said.
A variety of career fields will be represented, such as healthcare, transportation, security, environmental and law enforcement.
According to Drexler, the career and education fair is a “valuable opportunity to learn about educational and career paths and ways to meet goals for achievement of industry credentials, licensure, certifications and degrees.”
Drexler said more than 20 colleges and universities, education and vocational vendors nationwide are planning to attend the event.
“These schools and vendors have a myriad of programs available for students and potential students,” Drexler said. “Green to Gold recruiters and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service Human Resources Division will also participate in this event.”
Harris said attendees should come dressed for success, have a resume in hand and be prepared for on-the-spot interviews.
According to Harris, TAP hosts a career fair every three months.
“The next career fair is scheduled for May 22 at the Pershing Community Center,” Harris said.
