“Command Sgt. Maj. Fisher has gone from briefing the (Sergeant Major of the Army) one minute, to wading through ankle-deep water with a flashlight due to a pipe bursting in the barracks the next," she said. "What I will take away the most is serving with someone who is the true definition of a selfless servant.”

Lowery also recognized Fisher’s wife, Stephanie, for her patience and understanding during many late night or weekend crises around the Joint Base.

“I want to thank you for being the pillar and solid foundation that allows him to continue doing what he loves to do,” she said, “and that is serving others.”

Several senior Army leaders were also on hand to witness the ceremony and thank Fisher for his contributions including Sergeant Major of the Army and Mrs. Michael Weimer; Command Sgt. Maj. and Mrs. John Raines, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau; and Maj. Gen. Trevor Bredenkamp and Command Sgt. Maj. Vern Daily, command team of Joint Task Force-National Capital Region and the U.S. Military District of Washington.

During his remarks, Fisher thanked those who worked on the installation that make Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall “America’s Post.”

“The story of a garrison is written in the numbers: the number of gallons pumped out of the (Logistics Readiness Center), meals served at the Warrior restaurant, ID Cards issued, or a host of other metrics,” he said. “And while those metrics are important; the real story here is the people.”
