Representatives from the White Sands Missile Range human resources office were at the New Mexico State University Career Fair Feb. 5 to recruit much needed employees and give out information about upcoming internship opportunities.

Student Aldo Gonzales, who is studying electrical engineering, said he is interested in working at WSMR because it is close to home and would like to stay in the area once he graduates.

“I wouldn’t want to move across the country if I could find a nice paying job here in New Mexico,” Gonzales said.

Dianna McDaniel, a human resources specialist at WSMR, said she talked to students who are either interested in working at WSMR or for the Army.

“There is definitely interest from undergrads and those students who will graduate soon.”

She said right now her office is assisting Garrison in filling some of their engineer positions and two technical positions with ATEC. “We are also promoting our internship positions for the fall.”

Student Sergio Orozco, a sophomore studying electrical engineering, said he is interested in working at WSMR.

“I’m in a club that deals with avionics and telemetry systems, and I noticed that they offer jobs similar to my interests and I wanted to reach out and put my name out there.”

Orozco said WSMR is also close to home, and he is interested in internship and job opportunities.
