More than 230 candidates participated in the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge event at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Dec. 9-11, 2024. Candidates completed events such as a water survivability test, a physical fitness test, a written first aid test, 9 mm pistol qualifications and a seven-and-a-half-mile ruck while carrying a 33-pound rucksack. Two hundred and thirty-eight candidates competed for a gold, silver or bronze badges. At the conclusion of the event, 15 gold, 76 silver and 65 bronze badges were awarded to successful candidates. The event was hosted by Fort Knox’s 100th Training Division.

FORT KNOX, Ky. — The 100th Training Division partnered with the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany to conduct a German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) event Dec. 9-11.
“The German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge reflects partnership and excellence, and that’s what we really need,” said a German liaison officer at the event. “This badge is a partnership, wear it proud and know that you are part of Germany, part of the German Armed Forces.”
Candidates completed events such as a water survivability test, a physical fitness test, a written first aid test, 9 mm pistol qualifications and a seven-and-a-half-mile ruck while carrying a 33-pound rucksack.
