Redstone’s Winterville, a free two-day event that features a tree-lighting ceremony and holiday market, is just over two weeks away.

Hosted by Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Winterville will be Saturday, Dec. 7 from 1-8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Redstone Activity Field, on the east side of Patton Road. The tree-lighting ceremony will be Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. It will be led by Garrison Commander Col. Erin Eike and Michale Trantham Jr., the 2024 Alabama State Military Youth of the Year, according to Stephanie Stone, the MWR marketing and special events manager.

The holiday market will have plenty of local vendors, Stone said, and guests will be able to get their photos taken with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the photos will be downloaded to their phones on the spot. There will be a winter sports pavilion, a kidpreneur market and winter games, crafts and other activities, including a polar bear inflatable slide. A Kids Jingle Bell Fun run will be on Dec. 8 at 1 p.m.

Winterville, which was previously called Holiday Market and Tree Lighting, is open to the public.

Chili, hot dogs, nachos, pretzels and cheese, Coke products, Gluhwein Paulaner beer and holiday cocktails will be available for purchase. Guests can also buy a souvenir holiday cup.

Stone said Gate 10 at Patton Road will be open to the public for entrance to Winterville.
