PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - On Thursday, U.S. Army Garrison Picatinny Arsenal officials hosted a special Veterans Day presentation featuring the SwingTime Dolls.
The SwingTime Dolls is an all-female vocal group consisting of three vocalists that shine a new light on the tunes of the American Hit Parade of the 1940s and the 1960s classics of the Vietnam era.
The ladies took the Picatinny workforce and guests from area American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts on a sentimental journey to the days of WWII, Glenn Miller, and the Andrews Sisters.
Maj. Gen. John T. Reim, Commanding General of Picatinny Arsenal and Joint Program Executive Officer for Armaments and Ammunition, thanked the women for their performance and presented each with a military challenge coin.
"What a way to kick of Veterans Day," Reim said. "I think it is incumbent upon us to reflect on why that is important. That is why we call ourselves the 'Land of the Free,' and the 'Home of the Brave.' It is because of our Veterans. What a tremendous performance here today. There is a reason why our garrison won 'best garrison,' two of the last three years. Putting on events like this for Team Picatinny."
The Veterans Day event was organized by the garrison's Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS).
