It has been said that the more things change, the more they stay the same. In the case of Fort Detrick’s ID Card Office, the saying is true.

Now located in Bldg. 1520, Suite 115, the office continues to provide the same great service and even remains in the same building.

The new office space is a much-needed upgrade, according to Ryan Lawson, HR Specialist in the ID Card Office.

“It has more space to accommodate a variety of needs. They range from motorized wheelchairs and walking aids to service animals,” said Lawson. “The space will also allow us to accommodate large contract renewals and special events, such as Retirement Appreciation Day.”

In addition to adding more space and better accommodating customers with mobility issues, the move was designed to provide the ID card section with its own space to operate independently from MPD. The office space will allow the customer to have a more personalized experience without interruption, and with upgraded privacy.

“The ID card section is here to assist and help as many patrons as we can without compromising customer service,” said Lawson. “We want to add a customized experience, delivering a quality product from start to finish in a timely manner.”

Lawson had some advice for customers to help make their experience with the ID Card Office as seamless as possible.

“It is recommended and encouraged to use the online appointment scheduler located at: https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/,” he said. “Fort Detrick is a high-volume site that services the tri-state area. If you are utilizing the online system, it is recommended to book your appointment 60-90 days in advance. We do not except walk-ins for card issuance. Our office is by appointment only.”

To ensure the best service, please have two valid forms of identification with you at the time of your appointment. Also, if applicable, have correct documentation. All documents must be original, or a certified copy.

If you need additional assistance or have questions, contact the ID Card Office at 301-619-7311. You will be prompted to leave your name, phone number and a brief message. They will return your call within 48-72 hours.
