After three years of distinguished service as Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, Michael Connor has decided to step down from his position next week.

Assistant Secretary Connor has been a critical member of the Army leadership team and worked tirelessly to advance the Civil Works mission during his tenure. Michael was instrumental in overseeing billions of dollars of infrastructure investments to advance all facets of the Army Corps of Engineers mission-set, including navigation improvements, flood and storm damage reduction, and aquatic ecosystem restoration. He led the effort to modernize policies, processes, and tools to better serve the interests of marginalized communities and Tribal Nations. Finally, he worked closely with the Army Corps of Engineers on disaster relief efforts and supported the historic effort to reopen the Baltimore harbor following the collapse of the Key Bridge.

As Secretary of the Army, I have benefited greatly from Michael’s expertise and wise counsel. The Army is fortunate to have had a leader of his caliber to oversee Civil Works and we wish him all the best in his next professional chapter.
