As recovery operations progress, Task Force Castle has shifted efforts toward distributing humanitarian aid to hard-to-reach areas with limited vehicle access due to mudslides and erosion. Commanders are working with county emergency operations centers to collect and fulfill requests for assistance. Additionally, 2-502 is working to establish partnerships with local officials in Buncombe and Haywood counties and the Asheville Emergency Operations Center to ensure aid reaches those most in need.
