Festival 33 Showcase this weekend

The 3rd edition of the 33 Showcase festival will take place in Poznań next weekend, on October 4 and 5. This is an event where you can listen to lesser-known artists.

Showcase is a festival of the independent Poznań label 33 Records. This year will be its third edition. The best sounds will be provided by: Człowiek, Iwona Skv, Marek Niedzielski, Ramisz, as well as last year's winners of the competition - Martini Police. A wide range of genres is expected: from underground alternative to mainstream pop. The concerts, which will take place in the "W serce" collective at al. Niepodległości 30, are the only ticketed part of the event.

The event will not only feature concerts by young artists, but also discussion panels. Thanks to them, aspiring artists and people working in the music industry will be able to deepen their knowledge on: promotion, production, concerts, legal and social issues, mental health, foreign activities, contacts with the media and many other issues.

Part of the 33 Showcase is also a competition for a record contract with 33 Records worth PLN 33,000. The winners will receive support in music production, creating clips, pressing physical editions of records, distribution and promotion. The competition jury will consist of experienced representatives of the music industry, who are gradually revealed on the event's Facebook page .

The winners of the previous editions were the bands: Black Radio, which released an album on double vinyl last year - the band currently plays on stages such as Pol'and'Rock and Great September, and Martini Police - the artists performed at this year's edition of the Next Fest festival and are preparing to release their debut album.

More information about the festival can be found on the label's and event's website .

What is a showcase?

This is a type of event that attracts music lovers, which is rarely heard in mainstream media. It is a combination of a music festival with a large number of concerts (compared to regular ones) and an industry conference. Artists' performances are usually short - from a dozen or so minutes to an hour at most. In principle, it is an event for young artists who have the opportunity to present their work, with the hope that it will reach a wider audience. An example of a showcase festival was the Spring Break Festival organized in Poznań and its successor - Next Fest.

Meet the new residents at the Poznań Zoo

A female hairy armadillos has taken up residence in the New Zoo.

As reported by the Poznań Zoo on social media, a ten-year-old female hairy armadillo came to Poznań from the Chorzów Zoo. She can already be seen in the Nocturnal Animals Pavilion in the New Zoo.

Representatives of the Poznań Zoo explain that in the past these mammals were called hairy armadillos. The natural habitat of hairy armadillos, like other representatives of the armadillo order, is South America. Their body is covered with a carapace made of bony plates.

Japanese Garden coming to Poznań

Work is already underway.

An extraordinary garden will be created on the premises of the Old ZOO. This is the winning project of the Poznań Citizens' Budget 2024. "The idea of creating a Japanese garden in Poznań was born as a result of a fusion of experiences from other cities (Wrocław, Berlin, Tallinn, San Francisco), observations of needs (insufficient supply of urban spaces discreetly combining environmental values with an accessible but sophisticated cultural offer) and the city's dormant potential (the areas of the Old ZOO - a historic natural enclave in the heart of the city)" - inform the originators.

They add that the Japanese Garden of Imagination is a project with well-kept plants and elements of small architecture characteristic of the gardens of the cherry blossom country. Water is also an essential element, bringing life and movement to the garden. Stone is also necessary - it symbolizes the unchangingness and durability of nature. " Many of these elements are already in the Old ZOO, and in order to implement the idea, they require appropriate arrangement" - we read.

As the representatives of Poznań City Investments inform, the design documentation is being prepared. The planned completion date for the design work, together with obtaining the necessary decisions, is the second quarter of 2025.

New recycler built in Poznan; instant money back

The device is designed to be simple to use and user-friendly.

The recyklomat was created as a result of cooperation between Łukasiewicz - Poznań Institute of Technology, Czysta Polska Recyklomaty and the Tpay payment operator. - The customer will be able to obtain their individual password consisting of three words. Their account number will be encoded in it - explains Tomasz Markowski, director of the Digital Transformation Center at Łukasiewicz - Poznań Institute of Technology. - When returning a bottle or can, all you need to do is say this password and the deposit will automatically be transferred to the account - he adds.

Money can also be transferred to an account by providing a phone number. People who do not want to use the password or phone option can choose to print a receipt with a QR code, which will allow it to be redeemed in a store.

In principle, the recycler can be placed not only in shops, but also in parks, squares or stadiums, i.e. where a lot of drinks are consumed. The device can be programmed according to the needs of customers.

Importantly, the deposit system will enter into force in our country on January 1, 2025 and will cover plastic bottles up to 3 l, glass bottles up to 1.5 l and metal cans up to 1 l. - The deposit for plastic and metal packaging will be 50 gr, for glass - PLN 1. These funds will be returned to customers after returning the can or bottle. All stores with an area of over 200 m2 will be obliged to accept used bottles and cans. Smaller ones can join the system, but they do not have to - emphasize the creators of the device.
