The White Sands Missile Range community, united in their appreciation, gathered in large numbers for a complimentary burger meal at the Frontier Club on Sept. 30.
The Gary Sinise Foundation's Serving Heroes program, a charitable initiative, generously provided a delicious meal as a heartfelt token of appreciation to service members, first responders, veterans, and Department of Defense civilians during lunch time at the installation. The foundation serves the nation's defenders by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.
The dedicated and honorable Garrison Command Team took it upon themselves to grill and serve mouthwatering burgers, aiming to express their gratitude in return. However, WSMR Garrison Commander Col. Don Mozer, WSMR Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Jamal Latore, and Deputy Garrison Commander Fred Hankerson did not do it alone. The Frontier Club team was with them every step of the way, and the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation put the event logistics together, with Nino Bassaro, Director of DFMWR, also serving burgers.
“Thank you to the FMWR Team and the Gary Sinise Foundation for helping make this incredible event possible. Their support allows us to bring our community together and create lasting memories,” said Mozer.
Given the location of the missile range in New Mexico, the menu featured an enticing option of green chili and a variety of other delectable toppings, such as cheese, pickles and onions, ensuring a delightful and diverse culinary experience for all attendees.
When a vet was asked how his burger was, he replied, "Very good. You can't beat the price."
