The White Sands Missile Range Community Yard Sale occurred at the Housing area on Sept. 28.
It was a bustling event from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Residents set up their merchandise for sale in front of their houses or garages. WSMR and Las Cruces community members strolled and drove through the neighborhood, browsing items and making purchases.
The atmosphere was lively as people found treasures and bargains. WSMR Commander Brig. Gen. George C. Turner added to the fun as he rode a golf cart around the neighborhood, warmly greeting all the sellers and buyers.
"It is important that WSMR engages with the local community so we can be good neighbors. With that aim, today's yard sale is open to the local community," said Turner. "We look forward to opening WSMR for many more social events so we can engage and build stronger bonds with our neighbors."
There was a wide array of items for sale, with clothing and collectibles proving to be consistently popular. In this kid-friendly community, a variety of cribs, strollers, and toddler toys were available. Additionally, new dads were selling gaming accessories and knickknacks from their pre-fatherhood days, adding to the unique offerings.
"My comic books, the 'nerd stuff,' is selling the best," said Brandon Johnson, a housing resident who moved to WSMR about four months ago. "I would 100% want to do more things like this in the future."
