Michael E. Gaskey, U.S. Army Installation Management Command Equal Employment Opportunity Director, received the 2024 Secretary of the Army Diversity and Leadership Award for EEO Professional of the Year.
Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth presented the award Sept. 5 during a ceremony at the Pentagon.
Each year, the Secretary of the Army recognizes outstanding military and civilian individuals for their contributions in several categories. The Secretary of the Army Diversity and Leadership Award recognizes personnel who contribute, promote, advance, and lead the way in the Department of the Army's diversity and leadership initiatives.
The award notes that Gaskey was honored for his exemplary knowledge, leadership and exceptional management skills that were foundational to his capability to evaluate, assess, identify and resolve issues at the lowest possible level.
His proactive and consistent engagement, expansive customer service, professional advice and developmental expertise are relied upon by EEO practitioners, commanders and leaders enterprise wide, according to the award citation, which also states:
“Mr. Gaskey leads by example and is credited for ensuring the integration of EEO across the Army enterprise.”
The U.S. Army Installation Management Command directs 60,000 employees at 104 garrisons in 12 countries. IMCOM is “the Army’s home,” managing the day-to-day operations of Army communities globally.
