Bolesławiec Ceramics Museum with Euroregional award
The Euroregion Neisse-Nisa-Nysa once again this year awarded international partnerships and personalities for exemplary cross-border cooperation and exceptional personal commitment.
On September 5, 2024, the ceremonial presentation of the Euroregion Neisse-Nisa-Nysa awards took place at Grabštejn Castle (Czech Republic). In this year's edition, the prestigious Euroregional award was received by the Ceramics Museum in Bolesławiec in partnership with the Krkonoše Museum in Vrchlabí .
Partnership of the Ceramics Museum in Bolesławiec and the Krkonošské museum in Vrchlabí - both institutions have been cooperating intensively for over 20 years. Together they have implemented seven cross-border projects. These undertakings included renovations of buildings, new arrangements of permanent exhibitions, purchase of modern equipment and many cultural, publishing and exhibition activities. Among the most important scientific works, it is worth mentioning the publication of the over 350-page trilingual catalogue "Bolesławiec Artistic Ceramics in the 18th and 19th Centuries. Selected Types of Decoration in Polish, Czech and German Collections", which is the result of cooperation between scientists, museum workers and collectors from Poland and the Czech Republic. Together both institutions have organised several hundred shows, concerts, lectures, film screenings, theatre performances, historical shows, as well as temporary exhibitions and workshops promoting the intangible heritage of the Polish-Czech borderland, carried out not only in partner institutions, but also in other cities.
The largest joint undertaking was the implementation of a series of projects under the common name Via Fabrilis – Trail of Craft Traditions, as a result of which a cross-border trail was created connecting places associated with various crafts, today covering 33 towns and 38 institutions on the Polish and Czech sides of the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains.
It is worth recalling that the Bolesławiec Ceramics Museum has been inviting visitors to its new location in the former Pückler Palace at 28/29 Zgorzelecka Street since April 2024. The collections of the Ceramics Department and the City History Department can be admired in modernly arranged spaces. An additional attraction for visitors is the revitalized historic park adjacent to the Museum. The investment was carried out as part of the project "Poland and Norway on the European Ceramics Route: inclusion of Bolesławiec and Porsgrunn in the international cooperation network of cities with ceramic traditions". In October 2023, the previous building of the City History Department at 14 Kutuzowa Street was transformed into the Centre of Old Pottery Techniques. The centre was created as part of the project "Centers of old crafts on the Via Fabrilis route". Here, you can see an exhibition of contemporary Bolesławiec ceramics produced by local plants. The Centre also houses a fully equipped ceramics studio offering various types of workshops for anyone interested.
