FORT CARSON, Colo. — Fort Carson Retirement Services holds the 2024 Military Retiree/Spouse Appreciation Day Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The HUB on Fort Carson, 6371 Specker Ave., building 1532.
This year marks the first time since 2018 Fort Carson is hosting the annual event that links retirees and their families with installation agencies as well as community partners.
“Fort Carson is very excited to host the event this year,” said Carolyn Hill, Fort Carson retirement services officer, Directorate of Human Resources. “The event provides an opportunity to update retired Soldiers, surviving spouses and their families on changes in their retirement benefits and entitlements, major Army programs and initiatives. It also showcases the surrounding community organizations appreciation for retired Soldiers’ past service.”
Participating services include medical wellness, TRICARE, legal assistance, Department of Veterans Affairs, ID card services, BENEFEDS, Army and Air Force Exchange Service and Defense Commissary Agency.
Formerly known as Retiree Appreciation Day, the Military Retiree/Spouse Appreciation Day represents community and connection, said Nick Palarino, chair, Fort Carson Retiree Council.
“We look forward to this event every year,” he said. “Whether it is our Air Force partners hosting or here at Fort Carson, this event is about honor and gratitude to our retirees and their families, and providing the information and resources on the local installations that serve and assist our retiree community.”
Palarino encourages retirees and their spouses to attend the annual event.
“This day is about thanking the retirees and their families for their service, reconnecting them with fellow retirees and helping them explore the benefits and services available to them,” he said.
Additional information to include presentation schedule, parking information and inclement weather plans will be posted to the “U.S. Army Fort Carson” Facebook page.
